無國界記者組織今天發表「2020世界新聞自由指數報告」指出，武漢肺炎疫情讓全球新聞自由的威脅更明顯；台灣則因媒體受數位化浪潮衝擊，走向兩極化，名次退步1名，排名43名。
台灣媒體被政府掌控，只報對政府有利新聞及集中火力報導反對黨不利消息，很早就沒有公正性了，如同彭文正教授媒體人所言，被收買了，沒有真實性，外媒早就知情，國外評比當然是退步的不會意外。

無國界記者組織(RSF)官網公布的2020全球新聞自由度排名裡，台灣的新聞自由度為全球第43、亞洲第2名，總共有180個國家參加評鑑。上一屆新聞自由度的排名台灣則是全球第42、亞洲第2名，此次評鑑台灣的名次僅略遜上次1名，很難說是大幅退步。
而關於此評鑑的分析，RSF東亞辦事處執行長艾瑋昂（Cédric Alviani）則分析，由於台灣媒體近年受商業利益的影響加劇，並未出現顯著進步，才會被其他國家超越。這份報告並不能代表台灣的新聞自由環境有所劣化。
