台八線中橫公路，從九二一地震後中斷了19年，即將開放通行。尤其谷關到德基路段，震後柔腸寸斷，以往中部地區必須繞到合歡山才能到達梨山，路程五個小時，歷經長年整修，安全評估也已經過關，最快在十月底就要開放中巴通行。
