這款APP是由俄羅斯的開發商所推出，「FaceApp」官方發表聲明喊冤，指出多數照片會在上傳的48小時後刪除，多數的照片是透過雲端處理，只會將使用者提供的特定照片上傳到雲端，不會上傳手機裡的其他照片；使用者可以要求把自己的資料刪除，且大部分使用者沒有登入，因此多數情況下照片無法對應到特定的個人身份。
