英國自然歷史博物館於美國蓋蒂博物館網站皆有收錄網傳照片，兩個網站的圖說雖有不同，但標註的照片拍攝時間乾隆已不在世。而乾隆生卒年為1711至1799年，早於攝影術發明的1830年代末，因此照片中的人不會是乾隆，也不會有乾隆的照片留存下來。
