國內醫師表示，過去確實有人嘗試治療SARS冠狀病毒，但沒有看到相關證據，使用抗愛滋藥物等於是一種「沒辦法的一種嘗試治療」抗愛滋藥物對抗冠狀病毒，主要機轉是經由和病毒蛋白酶結合，達到抑制蛋白酶的目的，希望讓病毒呈現不成熟狀態，也喪失傳染性，但相關實驗並沒有真正成功。黃立民提醒武漢肺炎病毒，目前並沒有特效藥，面對嚴峻疫情，還是請民眾非必要不要去醫院探病，公共場所隨時戴上口罩做好預防工作。
