同性戀很有可能是多基因遺傳，而且還是會受到環境的影響，例如有科學家就認為母親的子宮環境會影響胎兒的表觀遺傳（epigenetics）而決定性向，所以即使真的鑑定出同性戀的基因，那些基因想必也只扮演一部分的角色。
