台灣備有中華眼鏡蛇的血清。此訊息自2017年就開始流傳，照片中的台南市消防局東原分隊已透過媒體澄清捕抓到的只是一般的眼鏡蛇。坊間俗稱的「金剛眼鏡蛇」，指的應是廣布於東南亞和中國南方的「眼鏡王蛇」，而台灣的野外從來沒有眼鏡王蛇的紀錄。
