蔡英文表示，2012年前國際上針對萊克多巴胺的含量沒有規範標準，加上狂牛症的問題，民進黨確實曾對含萊克多巴胺的牛、豬肉進口有所保留，但在2012年7月訂出國際標準後，當時在野的民進黨便因此修正了立場，表示會在以保障國民健康的前提下，基於科學證據、國際標準，對進口食品做出相關規範，這也是她在2016年競選總統時的立場。
