台中市衛生局、台中地檢署及保七總隊第三大隊進行聯合稽查，在西屯區「逢甲客家湯圓」店家查獲不明粉末50克、紅湯圓成品一包1900公克，及紅湯圓餘料250公克 ，其中紅湯圓被驗出「法規外煤焦色素Rhodamine B鹽基性桃紅精」工業染料，顧姓負責人坦承，「1至2年前開始使用該紅色粉末，加入湯圓甜點使用，但是不知道是工業染料。」
