過去也有研究認為，不安全的性行為也可能提高罹患攝護腺癌的機率。因為有較多的性伴侶，加上得到性病的機會較高，可能導致攝護腺慢性發炎，誘發往癌發展。一般建議50歲以上男性應定期接受攝護腺篩檢，若有家族病史，則建議提早5~10年，約45歲就應接受檢查。同時，要避免不安全的性行為，減少攝護腺慢性感染的機會。
