不同廠牌疫苗在完成接種後6至8個月，用多種指標評估均顯示應仍具有保護力。因此，目前普遍認為疫苗提供的免疫力和感染後自然產生的免疫力大致相同。 沒有疫苗可永久提供100%保護力，特別是當特定變異株流行導致疫苗保護力下降時，因此在完整接種COVID-19疫苗後發生突破性感染是可預期的，雖然發生比例極低，但發生率可能隨疫苗接種後時間增加而上升
