依據台中榮民總醫院的說明，患者在檢查當下的確會接受到輻射之曝露。另外，由於兒童對放射線較敏感，除非絕對必要才需執行電腦斷層檢查，且不應重複電腦斷層檢查，在兒童電腦斷層掃描應使用低劑量技術執行檢查。
另外AHA Journals也指出癌症風險評估需要限制輻射劑量，特別是在輻射高暴露模式中會有高癌症風險。
