此種椿象所帶的寄生蟲 Trypanosoma cruzi 確實會傳染查加斯氏病，目前感染多發生於美洲，台灣目前尚無病例。即使在台灣看見類似此外型之錐椿，因其並未帶有此類寄生蟲故無需恐慌，如至美洲旅遊時遇上則需特別小心。
