此消息曾在2019年8月美國國防部長馬克．艾斯培 （Mark Esper）訪問蒙古時傳出，蒙古駐美大使奧貢巴亞爾（Ё. Отгонбаяр）2019年8月8日在Twitter上回應，此為不實訊息。美國及蒙古官方皆沒有「美國將在蒙古設立中程導彈」的資訊，兩國的主流媒體也無相關報導。
