假的，這並不是真正的雞蛋。原產於非洲的雞蛋茄，其實與一般茄子相同，只是顏色及形狀不同 ，就是結出的漿果形狀與雞蛋相似，橢圓形、長約5公分，比普通茄子的外皮硬，若不食用也相當具有觀賞價值。
