接種疫苗後的死亡人數是否高於背景值，是各界密切觀察的重要指標，目前都在正常範圍，呼籲民眾切勿恐慌。即便在未接種COVID-19疫苗的情形之下，預期平均每日都會有200多名75歲以上長者死亡。另外，這些年長者多半有潛在慢性疾病，使得疫苗接種後死亡的案例增加，這得看他們的病歷資料或透過解剖釐清死因。
